Above the Bay
My favorite place on the planet is Pacific Grove in Monterey, California. I have so many memories there and the beautiful bay never fails to inspire me to write. While I was sitting on a ledge above the beach, I wrote this poem.
High above the sea
Legs dangling, kicking free
The sun’s warm rays play tag with the chilling breeze
Below the bay, an ombre of royal blue and stunning green
The waves, like laughing children dance and leap
for joy as they hit the rocks and spray
They alone hold the key
to the childlike spirit within me
They beckon me to come away
To leave all trivial cares on shore
And dance, feet bare with flying curls
Until the sky turns pink and orange
